We are a bit dusty this morning after a 2am bed time last night, and the humidity has not backed off.
Today we are off to Little Chalfont, to see Pete, Ally and Chrissy. Lara, the other daughter, is travelling in Europe during her Uni holidays. The train out takes out half an hour from Marylebone, and we Uber it to the station.
Easy trip out, but by the time we arrive at “The Cottage”, we are hot. We are immediately offered Flip flops (thongs) and I get a pair of shorts from Pete. Very welcome indeed.
After coffee and a chat we head for Old Amasham where it is Heritage Day. It is a lovely old market town and it is very busy with numerous stalls and other amusements. It was used in the film “Four Weddings and a Funeral”. We settle on a beer and G&T’s for the hangover cure, and it works a treat.

It is lovely to be with Pete and Ally (and Chrissy) at their place. Such fantastic and easy going people. We Facetime Lara in Budapest, which is as usual awkward for all parties. So hard to just have a conversation, but it was great to see her.
Lunch was huge and stretched out over the afternoon. Pete blamed me for filling his recyle bin, but I think he was equally to blame. It was very relaxed and we just chatted and chatted. Chrissy is very mature almost 17 year old, very interested and interesting.

We finally left for the 7.15 train back to London, which was apparently cancelled as it simply didn’t show up. We got an alternate all stations back to Baker Street Tube, and then black cabbed home. First black cab for the trip, so, tick, done.
Although back fairly late we all started to pack up ready to head to Scotland tomorrow.
