Neist Point & Rest

As predicted, a sleep in and big breakfast of shallot scambled eggs and bacon, fresh coffee and oak cakes with marmalade. Yum.

We are all still not that well. Kirsty is doing fine and Kate is doing the worst. We headed off anyway on a planned walk to Neist Point Lighthouse. It is apparently the most famous lighthouse in Scotland. It was built in 1900 as was a manned lighthouse. You can see both North and South Uist quite clearly across the water, which are just below the Isle of Harris.

There is a concrete path into the lighthouse, but it is a steep climb in and out. The girls were feeling a bit unsure and breathless with their colds, so they headed back after the first stage down. I pressed on to the lighthouse itself. I was surprised to see some guys fishing off the roacks, a small boat out fishing and some bloke practising his free climbing…..wierd place to do it.

After the struggle back up the hill we headed for home. It was time to relax, unwind, catch up, sleep and re-charge….you name it we needed it. Dinner was in, only the fifth dinner we will have in, in September. It is just party party party, but this arvo and tonight it was time to re-group.
