A big day of driving.
Last night was very wild and windy, a huge storm swept across Skye. I received a text from CalMac ferries that the morning ferry may be cancelled. We wouldn’t find out until we were on the road. Luckily, all OK, and we caught the ferry back across to Mallaig. In the end it was a very clam sea but they were expecting rougher weather later on.
Nothing of great note to report about the drive except that there are NO overtaking lanes in Scotland, but there are plenty of white vaners full of bloody tourists that amble their way across the country.
I had made a 1.30pm lunch appoitment at the Oyster Bar at Loch Fyne. We had driven past this spot many years ago and I swore to return. The Loch Fyne oysters are considered the best in Scotland.

We were running very late, so phoned ahead to let them know. It was all good. I finally got my Lock Fyne oytsers and they did not dissapoint. Not quite as brinny as Sydney Rocks, but nonetheless delicious. Kirsty had her beloved Kedgerre (smoked fish risotto, sort of) and Kate took the burger option, as far from fish as she could get !

We then pressed onto Glasgow, got caught up in heavy post football traffic and found our way to our AirBnB. Such a lovely place with city views, and in a great location near George Square.
We then met up with James and Abby in their “local” for a couple of pints and then back to their flat in a converted church for dinner. It was such a lovely night and so good to be able to see them in their place. Kate and Abby will certainly catch up again.
