A much better night was had by all, although it is so hot it is difficult to get a really good night’s sleep.

It was off to Kensington Palace today for an 11.00am appointment. William and Kate were expecting us, but unfortunately they were called away at the last minute. So, as we were there we decided to take the tour of the grounds and then head into an exhibition titled “Crown to Couture”……and very interesting it was too.

We did have a choice of things to do today, which was put to the vote, and as there are 3 of us we can always have a clear winner. It seems my vote to tour Lords Cricket Ground was not supported..

There were some amazing outfits, most of which seemed to have been worn to various Met Gala nights by various celebs. We had to queue for half an hour for our time slot, and again it was HOT with no shade. The Poms really do not know how to deal with this type of weather.

After the exhibition, we had a look at the Sunken Garden, commissioned by William and Harry, as their memorial for their mother, Diana. It was lovely.

We then headed straight home for showers and a change into suitable attire for our afternoon tea, don’t you know, at Claridges. Kirsty’s cousin, Jane, met us and as a surprise for her, we had booked the afternoon tea. It was fantastic. A very special afternoon, and I even had tea. The tea menu was extensive, and whilst the others had the Caridges blend I went for something that had something to do with Muscatel grapes. No sure what it had to do with grapes, but they all thought it tasted like shit.

The food was amazing, no crust sandwiches of course, delightful scones with jam and clotted cream, and tasty tarts. We were stuffed. We said our goodbyes to Jane and to kill time until Kate headed off to meet some friends, we found a bar (of course we did). We also found time for a bit of shopping, and I now have a new pair of sunnies.

Kirsty and I caught the bus home, top deck of course. We bought some eggs and bread, and that was dinner. It is still very hot as I type, no breeze, and no air con. Oh, by the way we spotted someone everyone thought dead. Apparently she is happily living in a Council flat, but I can’t say where:

Is this Jane the one who nearly died in the back seat fo the Fiat on the way to your wedding? Not through my driving but because of the heat.
